Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people 6 - 18, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens by providing stimulating and challenging programs through interaction with dedicated, caring people.

America is at a Crossroads:

Today, youth face seemingly insurmountable odds. Nationwide, 1 in 4 will not graduate. 1 in 5 lives in poverty. 170 juveniles are arrested each hour.

Every Child deserves a great future. The out-of-school time is the most critical and overlooked opportunity to impact a child’s life
In Florence, every day many kids leave school with no place to go. They risk being unsupervised, unguided and unsafe.
During the summer, kids lack access to summer learning programs, increasing their risk of falling behind before the school year even begins.
Research suggests that the out-of-school hours after school and summer could help reverse the most negative trends facing America’s kids: poverty, high school drop out rates, obesity and juvenile crime.
Wages in Lane County are lower than the State overall, and were low enough that Lane County ranks in the lower third of all counties in the nation in wages earned.
Oregon for the second year in a row has the highest childhood hunger rate in the country
The United Way estimates that the mean renter in Lane County makes $10.34 an hour, but would need an extra $4.28 an hour to afford a 2-BR apartment.

The Boys & Girls Club is a lot more than just a safe, supervised location. We don’t just want to provide youth with a place to go – we also want to encourage them to grow and flourish in life.

We are positively impacting the lives of more than 700 youth a day and over 2,100 a year. When they visit our Clubs, they are provided with tools to “Learn, Live & Lead”.

We want to be sure that our youth are on track to graduate. We help them with their homework and work hard to get them back in school if they drop out. We prepare them for college, trade school, military or employment.

We encourage our youth to take care themselves. Modeling and teaching healthy lifestyles is important at the Club. Our kids are taught to eat healthy and stay active through fun activities.

We want our kids to know that they can make a difference in their community. We believe in them and, because of this, many begin to believe in themselves. Our club members are active in many community volunteer activities and often become leaders in their school and/or social circles.
